About John Clancy
CEO & Founder
Career FAA Senior Executive turned founder. Runs the company on the same operating standards he set inside the agency, and owns the client relationships behind every program ClancyJG International delivers.
John Clancy founded ClancyJG International in 2007 after thirty-two years inside the Federal Aviation Administration, the last decade as a career Senior Executive. Before the FAA, three years as a U.S. Army air traffic controller. The operating standards ClancyJG runs on today come straight out of the career he built before there was a company.
I had spent thirty years inside the FAA when I started this company. I knew what federal customers need from a contractor, because I had been the customer. We don't sell to federal agencies. We deliver for them.
John Clancy, CEO & Founder, ClancyJG International
Federal programs under his leadership
John holds an active security clearance and owns the client relationships, contract performance, and business base behind every program ClancyJG runs for the FAA, NASA, and the Department of Defense. Programs delivered under his leadership include:
- FAA Controller Training Solutions (CTS), subcontract to SAIC as prime
- FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration in the National Airspace System, prime contractor on a Time and Materials award with strong CPAR feedback from the government COR
- Air Traffic Control and Management Services, prime contractor for the Army National Guard Bureau
Thirty-two years inside the FAA
John finished his federal career as Director of the Western Terminal Service Area. Line authority over terminal operations across twelve western states. Roughly three thousand staff. 125 FAA hub and terminal facilities. Operational authority over fifty to ninety Federal Contract Towers. A budget north of $460 million.
Before that, six years as Air Traffic Division Manager for the Western-Pacific Region, with executive authority over eighty-one air traffic facilities: two air route traffic control centers, seventy-eight terminal facilities, eleven flight service stations, roughly 3,200 personnel. Earlier, he ran the region's Logistics Division. Procurement, acquisition, real estate, and a multi-million-dollar budget supporting every line of business reporting to FAA headquarters.
The expectations on a federal contract aren't theoretical to John. He set them.
From the controller seat up
John started in the U.S. Army as an air traffic controller. He joined the FAA in 1975 and spent the next decade working traffic at Gillespie ATCT, Edwards RAPCON, Los Angeles Approach Control, and Los Angeles ARTCC. From the controller seat, he moved up the supervisor and management track: Edwards RAPCON, the FAA Regional Office, Van Nuys ATCT, Los Angeles ARTCC. From there to Air Traffic Manager of the Oakland ARTCC, a level three center with 450 employees and oceanic control responsibility. By the time he was running a region, he had already worked every job in the room.
After hours
Outside ClancyJG, John has served on the Board of Directors of SkyOne Federal Credit Union since 1998. A 60,000-member institution with over a billion in assets, with the same governance discipline he brings to federal contracts.
Today
John is the executive on every federal contract ClancyJG holds. The same person who built the past performance is the one signing for the next program. That's the company he set out to build in 2007, and it's the company federal customers still get when they call.
