About ClancyJG International

Eighteen years of mission-critical federal work across the FAA, NASA, and Department of Defense.

Our Founders

Operators not vendors

John Clancy spent more than 30 years inside the FAA. He retired in March 2007 as Director of the Western Terminal Service Area: 12 states, roughly 3,000 staff, 125 hub and terminal facilities, a budget north of $460 million. Before that, the Western-Pacific Region air traffic program. Before any of it, three years as a U.S. Army air traffic controller.

Donald Rhea spent his career at NASA Dryden running the Western Aeronautical Test Range and building flight test infrastructure used across NASA, the Air Force Flight Test Center, and DoD.

That's where this company starts.

Our Story

Why we Exist

John thought he was done after the FAA. He wasn't. Former colleagues kept calling about programs that needed someone who could walk into a facility, find the actual problem, and fix it without breaking the workforce in the process. He brought in Donald, and the two of them founded ClancyJG International.

Eighteen years later we're around 80 employees across the country, holding prime awards from the FAA, NASA, the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Navy, and supporting subcontracts under SAIC, Jacobs Technology, and New Horizons Aeronautics, among others.

Our Value

What primes hire us for

There is no shortage of SDVOSBs in the federal market. There is a shortage of ones that can do aviation and engineering work without an extended ramp.

We know the work because we did the work. John ran an FAA service area. Donald built flight test infrastructure at Dryden and Edwards. When we scope a task, we know which deliverables are real engineering and which are paper. We do not pad billable hours. We do not dress up risk as opportunity.

We can also cross the line between aviation and IT without slowing down. UAS integration in the National Airspace System. Simulator and ATC trainer development. Video teleconferencing operations. Mail and logistics. Controller training. The teams we put on a UAS-NAS task order can talk to the engineers and the controllers because they have been both.

Our back office does not bottleneck the work. We onboard cleared personnel, respond to task order solicitations, and stand up reporting faster than most small businesses our size. That is the result of investing in those systems before the contract demanded it.

Our Principles

How we work

We tell customers what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. When a deliverable is going to slip, we say so before they ask. When a teaming partner's scope is light and we can fill the gap, we say so. When a task order request does not fit our wheelhouse, we walk away from the bid.

A few things we do not do:

  • We do not propose resumes we have no intention of staffing. We staff what we propose.
  • We do not write reporting to impress. Our monthly inputs read like operations logs.
  • We do not negotiate on safety-touching work.

Our Locations

Where we work

Headquartered in Lancaster, California, better known as the Aerospace Valley next to Edwards Air Force Base, NASA Armstrong, Plant 42, and the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZLA).

We have team members embedded at the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Centers in Albuquerque (ZAB), Houston (ZHU), and Kansas City (ZKC), and at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. Past work has included Air Traffic Control support at Mojave Air and Space Port and at Bryant, Grayling, and Miller Army Airfields. Video Teleconferencing operations at NAWS China Lake and NAWS Point Mugu. Mail operations at Edwards Air Force Base, Plant 42 in Palmdale, CA, and Rocket Lab in Edwards, CA. Remote support across the country wherever a contract calls for it.
